50 days after Easter, the Church observes the festival of the Day of Pentecost, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the gathered disciples. The Holy Spirit calls, enlightens, sanctifies, and keeps the Church in her pilgrim journey, causing her to grow in faith and holiness until the glorious revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. The color of the day is red, representing the tongues of fire which rested upon the disciples as they spoke in varied tongues of God's deeds of power.
